Microsoft has released the pre-beta version of its next operating system, Windows 8, and you can download Windows 8 now!
This version of Windows 8 is a developer preview only and is not suitable for production systems. After you download Windows 8, you must install it separately on a new computer, or you must dual boot (ex.Linux and Win 8 on a computer) it with an existing operating system.
You cannot upgrade Windows 7, Vista or XP to Windows 8. This is to ensure that you don’t start using the operating system on your production system before its stable and fully functional.Obviously, before you start using it on your production machines, you must purchase a license of Windows 8 as soon as its stable version is released.

Microsoft claims that Windows 8 has been optimized at chip level. So you can except a big performance boost when compared to Windows 7. Windows 8 is also backward compatible.
